Being Greek is kind of a big deal. Well, not kind of, it is really!
Especially here at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Why do you ask?
Let's
sum it up: On Saturday, February 21st, volunteers (including Cory, Amy
and Randy from SAO) will plunge into freezing cold water to raise funds
and awareness for the Special Olympics of Michigan. Seriously, how COOL
is that?
So what are the Greeks on campus doing to support the
cause? We have taken on the challenge of raising $5000 for the Special
Olympics through various fundraisers and activities. So that you don't
miss out on the chance to participate, and meet the Greeks on campus,
I'm giving the run-down:
This Wednesday, there is a BWW (Buffalo Wild Wings) fundraiser in which 20% of your bill will be donated to the cause!
Friday, February 13th, is the All-Fraternity Polar Plunge Party! This event is hosted by Phi Sigma Phi, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Theta Tau and Delta Sigma Phi Fraternities on campus.
The ladies of Phi Mu Fraternity will be hosting the "Phi Mu Matchmaker". The ladies are selling questionnaires for $2 each, and all proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics.
All Greek organizations are selling Icons for $1, which will be hung on the dividing walls of the UC behind the bookstore.
If you'd like to see what all the hype is about, then join us on Saturday, February 21st bright and early to witness all of the brave individuals submerge themselves in the Detroit River, behind the Roostertail. Also, come for a laugh! Most participants dress in ridiculous costumes!
