Clubs, Organizations, Teams
There is so much to get involved in while attending the University of Michigan-Dearborn. While I used to write for the Michigan Journal, I have decided to change my interests. I was looking for a challenge so I joined the ITM Club. I am a student blogger as well and involved in the U-Lead program.
Now, the ITM Club really isn’t challenging but understanding computers can be. Information Technology Management used to be called Management Information Systems but changed due to misconceptions of what it really entailed. I have been told over and over that computers are the future so I thought I should start diversifying my understanding with some new knowledge.
Since I wanted to gain new knowledge in the field I thought it would be a great opportunity. Professor Lise Urbaczewski is one of the faculty members involved in the club and she is also my professor for ITM 310 which is Information Systems in Management. Professor Urbaczewski introduced ITM at the beginning of the semester in a way that was not intimidating. I felt that I could actually grasp the information and apply it in real life.
So far I am doing great in the class and understanding the practicality of what I am learning which motivated me to join the ITM Club. Although one of my classes conflicts with the time of the meetings, I have been trying to swing by for the last few minutes of the meeting. I enjoy the company of the other members who are all very bright and quite comical which always makes my day better.
Overall, I am building relationships with others extending my network and opening my eyes up to all of the possibilities. Learning doesn’t stop whether I am at school, work, or a club meeting and I am doing my best to soak it all up.
