Moving Quickly

First let me say this is my first Summer Semester. I was warned that it moves very quickly and you must be on the ball with your homework. Well, I understood it would move quicker than the Fall and Winter Semesters but not this quick. We only have four more weeks!!

To catch up on my work, I took time over the long weekend and read approximately 300 pages from my textbooks. All I have to say about that is that my eyes hurt really badly when I was done but I quickly got over that. Now, I am busy catching up on practicing problems and taking online practice quizzes.

I have two tests tomorrow and I need to be ready for both of them. The master plan is to stay up to about midnight and get up by 5:00am to start studying again. Instead of whining or complaining, I was taught, “There is nothing to it but to do it…” I will end on that note and get back to doing it which is for now analyzing Wall Street articles.

 

The Secret Garden

            This past week my children and I visited the Environmental Interpretive Center. We had such a nice time looking around. Later, we went out behind the center and took a walk along the trails. My daughter remembered visiting the old rose garden for a preschool field trip and asked if we could visit the pond.

            I am not sure if many people are aware of the old rose garden but it is absolutely stunning. Of course, there aren’t roses everywhere like when Henry Ford occupied the land but it is still inspiring to see. For my daughter, she enjoyed the pond and the open area to run crazily. She was really excited when we saw a large sized ground hog. He had to have been almost 20 pounds!

I, on the other hand, enjoyed the serenity of the garden. I felt as if the garden was a little secret that was tucked away from time. There is an informative stand that describes what the garden use to look like, who designed it, and why it looks different now. I remember that it stated that nature had over taken since it was no longer nurtured as it once was. It gave me something to think about especially as I walked along the strip of what once was beautiful stone lined pools but now are dried out pits.

I encourage everyone to take sometime to visit the trails behind the Environmental Interpretive Center . There are ponds with numerous varieties of wild life surrounding you and the best part, peace and quiet!

      It is amazing how much one can accomplish in a matter of a week. With the week of vacation between the Winter and Summer Semesters, I was able to finish my huge “I need to get it done..” list. Besides working on projects that never got finished, I got to play with my kids more than normal.                     

    We had a blast at the park and just relaxing in the yard. The funniest thing is that my son does not understand how to play baseball so I got him a T-Ball set up. He refused to use it because he enjoys putting the ball on the ground and hitting it like in golf. He kept telling me that he wants to grow up to be a baseball player but I think he means a golfer. I also had a lot of fun practicing my daughter’s ballet routine for her recital that is coming up. She is such a cute little angel!

   

Now that the Summer Semester has begun, it is time to get back to reality. I hate when I wait to long to get my textbooks because I got myself in a jam again. I ordered them more than a week ago and classes have already begun but I still have no books. Oh well, worrying is not going to get snail mail moving any quicker.
